Bristol Township man out on bail charged with second armed robbery

Posted: Sunday, June 30, 2013

A Bristol Township man is accused of robbing two people at gunpoint the day before his preliminary hearing on an earlier armed robbery case involving a stolen pregnant Yorkie.
Bristol Township police say that Quincy Palmer, 21, of Winder Drive, and a 19 year-old Bristol Township man, also fired two shots during the June 25 robbery in the 1500 block of Venice Avenue.

A woman told police she and a male friend had driven to a house on Venice Avenue around 1:30 a.m. to pick up laundry. As they exited the home, the woman heard a noise in the lot next door and two men carrying firearms approached, according to a probable cause affidavit.

One man, whom the woman later identified as Palmer, held her at gunpoint at the rear of the couple’s car and demanded her purse, which she handed over.
The second suspect, whom police identified as Rasheem Wilford, of Marie Lowe Drive, carried a rifle and held it on her friend and searched through his pockets, according to police.
The suspects also demanded the couple take them inside the Venice Avenue home, threatening to kill them if they refused. The woman, though, told the men there were other people in the home, court documents said.
At one point, Wilford fired a warning shot into the ground near the man, according to court documents. He also punched the man in the head before stealing his smart phone and money, police said.
Wilford reloaded his rifle, but after the first gunshot the suspects became nervous and started to look around, the woman said, according to police. As the men ran away, Palmer fired a round at the couple, according to police, who recovered a .22-caliber shell casing at the crime scene.
The two men ran through a backyard and possibly to Ashby Avenue, where shortly after the woman heard a car door slam shut, police said. When officers searched the area they found nothing.
The woman said she could identify the suspects because she had seen them in the neighborhood before, but didn’t know their names, police said.
Two days after the robbery, the woman told police she saw the men in Venice Ashby and identified them as Palmer and Rasheem Wilford, 19, of Marie Lowe Drive. Later the same day, police found the man’s stolen smart phone, which had been pawned in Philadelphia.
Police spoke with the unidentified woman who pawned the phone. She claimed that her boyfriend had found the damaged phone on Winder Drive around 6:30 a.m. on June 25, hours after the alleged robbery, according to the affidavit. Palmer lives near where the phone was found, police said.
At the time of the robbery, Palmer was free after posting 10 percent of his $50,000 bail in connection with a May 30 assault and armed robbery in Bristol.
The day after the Bristol Township armed robbery, Palmer was held for trial on robbery, assault, theft and related charges. Police say he broke into a home in the 300 block of Washington Street stole $5 and a pregnant Yorkshire Terrier at gunpoint and assaulted one of the residents.
Palmer was arraigned Friday before Bristol Township District Judge Robert Wagner Jr. on the new charges including robbery, theft, recklessly endangering another person and two counts of simple assault. He was sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $500,000 bail.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Wilford charging him with robbery, two counts each of recklessly endangering another person and simple assault and conspiracy.
