Pennsbury prom-goers make dramatic exit — in a police car

Grand entrances — including parade-worthy floats and helicopter landings — are expected at the famed Pennsbury High School senior prom. This year, though, two 18-year-olds made an equally dramatic exit early Sunday— in a police car.
The two were arrested and charged with assault and other offenses after one student tried to re-enter the prom, which isn’t allowed, and his friend intervened, police said. The two allegedly assaulted four people, including the director of pupil services and security.
Just after midnight, Ryan Adams of Falls was seen reentering the gym after leaving the prom, an all-night affair in the Falls high school, which was elaborately decorated for the event.

A teacher approached Adams and told him he had to leave, police said. Adams pushed the teacher and walked past him, they added. The teacher followed, got in front of Adams and again told him to leave. This time, Adams pushed the teacher with both arms, according to a probable cause affidavit.
An assistant high school principal got involved, and escorted an upset and yelling Adams out of the building, the affidavit shows.
The commotion caught the attention of Adams’ friend, Tyler Wachter, also of Falls, who approached and started yelling at the school officials to leave his friend alone, police said.
The high school principal tried to calm down Wachter, but the teen “belly bumped” the principal and told him he was “here for Adams,” police said. The principal tried to get Wachter to move out of the area, but he refused, police added.
The district’s director of pupil services and security then appeared to help the principal calm Wachter. But the teen pushed the administrator, police said. As other school officials tried to move Wachter, he became aggressive, swinging his arms and shoulders; his elbow hit a security officer in the eye injuring him, court papers show.
The incident caused a major disruption at the prom, tying up the only entrance and exit point, police said. That resulted in a delay in pickups, they added.
Both teens were arraigned Sunday morning before Bristol District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr.on charges of aggravated and simple assault and disorderly conduct. Adams was also charged with defiant trespassing and Wachter with disorderly conduct.
They were each sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
